(TOP) Hanny Buitenwerf is currently a student at École Holt Couture. It’s a private comprehensive school of sewing and fashion design in Calgary, Alberta, dedicated to teaching the fine art of haute couture sewing. Hanny is also passionate about sailing. She currently sails out of the Calgary Yachting Club in Chestermere and we are looking forward to cheering her on June 23, 2013!
(BOTTOM) Carlie Rioux is 21 years old and truly has an adventurous streak. From zip-lining, to swimming with sea creatures, to motorbiking, she loves it all. Carlie volunteers for the Cancer Society as a member of the “Boobs on Bikes” – the motorcycle safety crew – and she recently adopted SEA Change as another organization that is close to her heart. She has been running her own successful business since the age of 19.
In Carlie’s words, “I love everything about SEA Change’s view on social entrepreneurship. As a teenager who started a business and made it through the tough start up, I am always excited to talk to other young people about their dreams and to give them advice on how to get their business ideas up and running. ~Carpe Diem~”
